I am thrilled and honored to announce that the LGBT Equality PAC endorsed our campaign for Congress!
As Co-Chair Congressman Jared Polis of Colorado put it for the endorsement announcement, “Having more LGBT representation in Congress is vital to making sure our community’s perspective, values and priorities are part of the agenda. As my friend Barney Frank always said, ‘If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.’”
As the first openly gay member of the King County Council, and one of only two openly gay legislators when I was first elected, I couldn’t agree more and have seen how important a seat at the table is over the past 15 years.
The Equality PAC is led by the co-chairs of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, and supported by Members of Congress dedicated to increasing LGBTQ representation in Congress so our country can continue to move forward towards full legal and societal equality. From civil rights and protections to leading in our movement towards full marriage quality here in Washington, I’ve been delivering for the LGBTQ community and am eager to continue that work in Congress.
It is an honor and a highlight of my campaign to have earned the support of this group of progressive, equality minded group of Representatives from across the United States.
