FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Seattle, WA – In a sign of early momentum, King County Council Chair and Candidate for Congress Joe McDermott today received endorsements from King County Executive Dow Constantine and from the Democratic Leader of the Washington State Senate, Sharon Nelson.
Constantine and McDermott have worked together closely at King County. “I am proud to endorse Joe McDermott for Congress. Together we have expanded transit, protected the most vulnerable, and improved early education for kids,” Constantine said. “Joe is exactly the effective progressive champion we need in Congress.”
Democratic Leader Nelson said, “Joe has been a tireless advocate for expanding rights for everyone. He’s taken the courageous stand of saying ‘no’ to Super PACs and independent expenditures spending money on his behalf. He is the progressive leader who knows how to achieve results.”
From expanding transit, improving public education, increasing environmental protection, combating homelessness, passing campaign finance reform and addressing the growing income inequality that threatens our middle class, McDermott’s fifteen-year legislative record clearly demonstrates that he knows how to get things done for Washington State.
McDermott lives in West Seattle with his husband, Michael, and has served on the Board of Southwest Youth & Family Services and the West Seattle Helpline. His civic activities and memberships include the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Vashon Allied Arts, the Highline Historical Society, and the Greater Seattle Business Association.
